Frauke Klatt was born in 1957 in Luebeck in northern Germany. Born into an artistic family, she became very early a passion for art. After finishing her education at the University of Hamburg, she worked for some years as a teacher. Living at the coast of the Baltic Sea, she became closely connected to the sea and maritime environments. She lives in a sailing-family, cruising led her to Denmark, Sweden, Norway and in the Mediterranean. Racing she followed on a rib and their yacht „bona tempora“, what means „good times“ with all facets, even in her art. She is influenced by her individual impressions with the summer fog at the coastlines of Long Island and Cape Cod.
In 1996 she started with her first exhibition as professional artist.
From the impressions she has gained with all her senses on the water, she then implements what is important to her in the studio. Her timeless and nameless ships often consist only of the sail triangles; the hull is not important to her. The sea, wind and clouds always belong together. She is well known for her ability to catch atmosphere and moods.
Frauke has always gone her own way. She is restless in creating new things and today feels as impressionistic realist. The textured painting is today her signature style. Frauke is able to paint also very large scales up to 5 to 12 feet. She neither wants to please nor does she follow current trends. She only follows her own feelings. Her pictures will stand the test of time.
The list of individual and collective exhibitions since 1997 is long including „The maritime Gallery at Mystic Seaport, CT“, Museum exhibitions, Exhibitions in Denmark and Switzerland, the boatshows in London, Monaco, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Hamburg and Düsseldorf. Today she is presented by leading galleries in UK, Spain, the US and Germany.
